NEW ELECTRIC RADIANT HEATING CABLE FROM ORBIT HELPS PREVENT ROOF LEAKS; DIMINISHES DAMAGE TO GUTTERS

Perkasie, PA, October, 2003 -- Orbit Manufacturing, a leading provider of high-quality electric radiant heating solutions for residential and commercial applications, now offers an electric radiant heating cable that helps prevent roof leaks and clogged gutters by eliminating snow and ice build up along the roof edge. The Nexans TXLP radiant heating cable offered by Orbit is ideal for both residential and commercial applications, and the cable’s mounting system can be adapted for use on wide variety of roofs, including shingle, rubber (PVC), and metal.

The TXLP cable system is designed to withstand the rigors of outdoor weather conditions while providing exceptional snow and ice melting capabilities, up to 15 W per foot when energized.  The series resistance heating cable consists of a high quality nickel chrome wire with a cross-link polyethylene insulating cover, and a continuous copper-grounding conductor. Additionally, the UL-listed cable is the only cable available with three protective waterproof coverings—a tough PVC outer covering, an insulation layer, and a metallic sheath for mechanical strength.

A standard, pre-installed 10-foot UF lead and ground that is factory-spliced to the heated wire is included with the system. The system is available in voltages from 120 V to 480 V, and in lengths of up to 1,200 feet.

Controls for most residential applications include an outdoor mounted temperature and moisture sensor, which automatically energizes the heating cable. For commercial, or larger projects, a NEMA 1 surface-mounted control panel, sized to fit the specific application, controls the system.  Controls contained within the system include line and load terminal blocks, operating contactors, fuses, a GFI circuit breaker and a transformer, with an optional automatic ice controller. The gutters are sectioned into zones, with a 600-foot maximum span per section, each served by a remote barrel-type temperature and moisture sensor.
