The sidewalk in front of a Thomas Angelo’s photography studio in Chalfont, PA is kept clear for pedestrians all winter long, thanks to Orbit’s electrically heated TXLP cable. The 36 watt/square foot, 240 volt system omits the need for backbreaking shoveling or scraping. A snow switch, which automatically senses snow conditions by monitoring air temperature and precipitation, controls the cable. When the sidewalk gets cold and wet, the cable heats up, warming the surface of the sidewalk and melting the ice and snow as it hits the surface.
